About Dr. Lee
Dr. Tony Lee believes in finding the best nonoperative and personalized treatment for every patient at Synergy Rehabilitation & Wellness Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. As a physiatrist, Dr. Lee holds board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation as well as the subspecialty of pain medicine. He has extensive training and experience in the benefits of physical therapy, and as a holistic practitioner, he helps patients maintain wellness with nutritional and lifestyle support.
Dr. Lee earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in microbiology from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. Then, he returned home to Georgia, where he received a Master of Science degree in microbiology from Georgia State University in Atlanta.
After finishing his medical degree from Mercer University School of Medicine in Macon, Georgia, Dr. Lee completed his residency training in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During his training, he proudly served as chief resident for two years. Dr. Lee went on to complete a sports medicine and interventional spine fellowship at Southwest Spine & Sports in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Since 2010, Dr. Lee has been named a Top Doc ten times by PHOENIX magazine, most recently in 2024. He has served as a board member for the Maricopa County Medical Society and as the president of the Arizona Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. At the national level, he has served on and chaired the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Presidents Council Executive Committee.
Dr. Lee has served in many community organizations, including as a board member for Asian Corporate & Entrepreneur Leaders, a group that focuses on developing leaders from the Asian American community. More recently, he served on the Board of Trustees for the Arizona Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
With his college tennis playing days behind him, Dr. Lee now spends his free time traveling with his wife and daughter, golfing, hiking, and enjoying wine and unique food experiences.

Got EMG of legs. Virtually no pain compared to one done by neurologist that was excruciating. Clearly explained my MRI and said it was confirmatory of EMG. Excellent. Dr Lee was thorough with his questions and explained his diagnosis regarding injections. He was professional and made me feel very comfortable in discussing my back issue. I’ve seen Dr. Lee before for my back pain which is now resolved. Today I saw him for my shoulder pain, he xrayed my shoulder right away and confirmed the pain. I’m fairly new to this practice and I would highly recommend Dr Lee. He is easy to talk to and I feel he really listens to me. We are trying to diagnose the source of my pain and he seems to be more thorough than my previous pain doctor. His office staff is very friendly and efficient. Recently I had my first visit with Dr. Lee . I found him to be thoughtful and thorough. He explained my painful hip/low back condition to me and suggested exercises to help alleviate the pain. He scheduled me for updates on my LUMBAR MRI as well as specifically ordered Physical Therapy procedures to help relieve that painful area. My GP referred me to Dr. Lee to address two long standing but unrelated pain management issues. Dr. Lee reviewed the intake forms ahead of our initial meeting. He was already familiar with my case. Minimal explanation was necessary. After a few questions about my overall health, the specific areas of concern, level of discomfort and physical tests he provided an accurate diagnosis and several treatment options for each. Dr Lee's pre meeting diligence enabled him to propose several specific treatments plans. Time is of the essence when dealing with pain. Locating a doctor that could provide multiple treatment plans and options, that do not include drugs for temporary pain relief, after only one meeting was more than I expected I should have not waited so long to meet with Dr. Lee!Patient Submitted Review

I had been self treating bursitis in both my hips with Advil and exercises for the past month all to no avail. My husband, also a patient of Dr. Lee, made an appt. for me and what a godsend Dr. Lee was! A simple injection in both hips and like magic, the pain is gone....why did I wait so long?! This was my first visit with Dr. Lee to inquire about PRP injections and possible alternatives to relieve my knee pain due to arthritis. I was referred to Dr. Lee by my orthopedic surgeon who performed my hip surgery last year and who had also provided me with gel and steroid injections for my arthritic knee which did not provide satisfactory relief. I was certainly not in favor of having knee surgery at this point in time. Dr. Lee was very personable as well as very thorough in reviewing my current condition and medical history. I was transferred to Dr. Lee after my old doctor sold her patients/practice. I was hesitant at first b/c I was seen by Lindsay B at their office. I did NOT have a good experience with her. Once Dr. Lee took my case over, it was a complete change. He listens, he really tries to fix what's wrong when most other pain docs will just write you a prescription and say "see you next month". I love that he brainstorms and is not above looking to his colleagues for their opinions to try to figure out the best possible solutions for me, the patient. I don’t usually give ratings, but Dr Lee was great. I was brought in promptly at my appt time and he was a great communicator. I’ve never had a nerve test done before so wasn’t expecting so much poking and prodding. He made sure I was comfortable and knew what was happening before he did anything.
